How The iPhone Voice Broadcast App Helps Teacher Save Time

DialogTech

In addition to classroom time, teachers spend many hours each week preparing lessons, grading assignments and communicating with parents. Since we love helping our customers save time at work, we were excited to read the following story. A teacher over at A Teacher Log wrote a post yesterday about how it took just 2 minutes to make an hour worth of calls to parents using DialogTech’s Voice Broadcasting app for the iPhone.

Here’s the full story:

Tomorrow’s the biannual parent-teacher conference night.  At our school, we pride ourselves on having advisory groups and one of the roles as advisors that we take on is calling all of our advisees to remind them about stuff like this.  Usually, this would take about an hour since I have 14 advisees.

However, this year, I signed up for ifbyphone.com account that comes with Broadcast app.  It’s a phone messaging system.  I got a free 100-minute/month just for downloading the free app on my iPhone.  And since I already set up an account at ifbyphone.com, all I had to was schedule a new ‘broadcast,’ record my message when it called my phone, then send it out from the website.  It took me 2 minutes to call 14 homes.

You’re probably thinking that sending a voice mail to my advisees probably defeat the whole purpose of having a close advisory group where I’m supposed to be the communication hub in a personal level.  I agree to a point, but because I only remembered about the phone call at 9pm, I believe it was a good idea to use the service that I already had.

Last time I used the app was to let all of my students’ parents/guardians (84 students) know that their child has a project due in a week.

But I think I just used up all my free minutes and I have to wait 9 days to get another 100 free minutes.  So worth it, though.
