Automate Phone Calls To Avoid Doctor Appointment Cancellation Issues

Doctor offices commonly automate outbound reminder calls to patients to confirm their appointments and decrease appointment cancellation. While that is a popular use of automated phone calling technology, there’s a less known–but equally effective–strategy for using voice broadcasting when patients cancel their appointments.

Here is the idea:
When a doctor’s office is successful (i.e. busy), patients may need to wait a long time to get an appointment. One solution that both increases revenue and patient satisfaction is for the doctor’s office to keep a “waiting list” of patients that would like to get an appointment right away, and use Voice Broadcasting to call patients on the “waiting list” with newly available appointment times. After receiving the automated call about an available appointment time, a patient can chose to be connected with the office receptionist to confirm the new appointment.

By implementing this strategy, everyone wins. The patient who cancels doesn’t get charged, another patient gets an earlier appointment, the receptionist doesn’t need to spend time making outbound phone calls and the doctor’s schedule remains full–maximizing revenue.
